Room 3 is caring for our environment !

Part of belonging and learning at Elm Park School, is learning to care for our environment. We thought our planter box was looking a bit boring and not very colourful. We decided to plant some new flowers to make it more interesting for us to look at.

We then chose our 3 favourite colours and made a graph to show the results.

We discovered that our classes most favourite colours were purple and pink. Orange was our second most favourite colour.

Have a look at all the colourful plants we bought...

Look at us working together to create our gorgeous rainbow coloured garden below.

Some of us dug holes for the plants with the trowels. Others people carefully put the plants in the holes. Then other people had the messy job of patting the soil.

IT WAS A TEAM EFFORT.

Ka pai mahi!

Now we just have to remember to water it.

Room 23 Reptile Group

For this term the year 6 class room 23 reptile group has been studying about lizards and skinks. We have found out that the lizard population has been going down. So we have investigated how lizards adapt to their environment and observe their behaviour in order to increase their population.

Our social action is to rebuild the lizard garden on the field. We have put some plans in place and are hoping to rebuild the lizard garden next term.
